Property For Sale In Beziers

Fine French Homes offer a large range of property for sale in Beziers and keep it up to date weekly on the site. The range of property for sale in Beziers covers most types from town houses, apartments, Languedoc villa through to chateau and manoirs. Although the capital of the wine trade surprisingly few vignerons houses exist in town most being converted and there is a dominance of Belle Epoque style buildings in the town centre as well as modern apartments.

Beziers is located on the banks of the River Orb in the Herault department of the Languedoc Roussillon just over six miles from the beautiful long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. As a town it was already fully functioning long before the Romans arrived in 35 B.C. With a population of 80000 in the winter and over 200000 in the summer the Beziers is enjoying a Renaissance and this is reflected in property and inward investment. The town hosts a number of festivals throughout the year none more popular than the Feria in Mid August which goes on for 5 days – basically a giant street party based on Spanish and Occitan culture. You may also of heard of its rugby union team who were in the past 10 times champion of France consecutively, a feat never achieved by any other team in the world in any team sport. Another reasons why locals are justifiably proud of certain aspects of their history.

But there are also significant changes taking place in the culture of the town and region with now International orchestras appearing at the towns beautiful Belle Epoque theatre, the first Michelin star restaurant prompting further Michelin star chefs to open shortly and the general investment in the town taking a significant upsurge from 2006.

This in its turn is having an effect and although the Languedoc Roussillon is an expensive region, property for sale in Beziers is no exception. However it does compare at the moment favourably to cities of similar and greater size on the Mediterranean.

The centre of the town is the Allees, a tree lined pedestrianised area with restaurants and bars and giving front to the small pedestrianised streets leading through to the town hall and cathedral areas full of individual small shops and boutiques. Again major investment is taking place around the railway station in the centre known – where a large shopping; office and apartment complex is being developed with many large national and international retailers looking for space.

The town itself has a number of select suburbs as well as others perhaps best avoided as in most towns. The town centre itself is expensive and parking much sought after; properties with views of the Orb valley or in the suburbs to the west of the town above the Orb valley and the town side of the river being some of the most expensive. To the east and north is seeing the most of the current expansion with large development areas along the new by pass constructed north of the town. In future years this expansion will in turn spread towards the A9 motorway at junctions 36 in the south and west.

Outside of the town the villages north and east are much sought after and a type of ‘golden triangle’ for property for sale in Beziers, is spreading towards Pezenas and then Faugeres with prices being commanded constantly moving upwards – perhaps the impending arrival of Low Cost flights at the recently developed airport has something to do with this.
