Property in LanguedocHere are the various types of property in Languedoc with a short description to aid potential clients; it is not comprehensive but acts as a guide for the types of property in Languedoc Roussillon that are found. Village and Town Houses Easily the most available type of property, with those having outside space rare and attracting a price premium. Those with a garden will be as much as double the price of a normal village house most have garages but not all. See Village House. Vignerons or Winemakers House Larger Languedoc property again found in relative abundance in villages, rarely isolated; usually with a large garage and an apartment for living on one or two floors above. Often they have a terrace or courtyard and some a garden but again not all. See Character Property and Property for Renovation. Maison du Maitre Usually the bourgeoise house in a village mostly with a garden otherwise its a village house) and built over three floors, with garage usually integrated. Typically end of the 18th early 19th century symmetrical and double fronted. See Character Property and Chambres DHotes. Ferme Much sought after can still be found in the Languedoc park. Those nearer the sea are vignerons houses with outbuildings and maybe a small vegetable garden. Often parcels of land separate from both the house and each other. See Character Property. Grange Or barn usually but not always adjoining a winemakers house and ideal for development however not many sold alone. See Character Property and Property for Renovation. Moulins Water mills rarely on the market maybe one every 2 - 3 years. See Character Property. Mas or Bastide Stone built canal tiled roofs usually assymetrical doors and windows but not always and with large gardens sort after property in Languedoc and well liked by overseas and French buyers alike. Not always away from the towns or villages. See Character Property. Villas The most popular property in Languedoc and range from small two bedroom pavilion type through to the large Languedocian villas with pools. All with outside space land some with swimming pools and in village, town and countryside locations. See Languedoc Villas. Apartments Available from the ultra modern off plan type to the more specialised Bourgeoise style beloved by the French in towns such as Beziers. Coastal property as with all types commands a high premium as does all property in Languedoc near the coast. See Apartments. Manoirs and Chateaux The region has no shortage they range from the late medieval to the Victorian country house and can be found in the country as well as near or even in large towns. Presbyteres or houses owned by the clergy or ex tax collectors often in stone with mullioned windows tend to command high prices and are rare if superior properties always in a village or town location, rarely with land and often without outside space.
